Yes, I did it. I got sisterlocks. Honestly, some days I can’t believe it myself, but on Aug 29, 2022, after 30 hours and 4 days, 300 locks were officially complete. I’m 4.5 months in and I have no regrets about my decision. Does that mean I’ve loved my hair every day? No. I actually really didn’t like it for a good minute and questioned my choice a few times. I knew that the look I wanted to achieve takes about a good 1.5 to 2 years, so I am in it for the long haul. Plus, the cost of this hairstyle is a true investment, so we are going to ride it out!
One thing that gets me through the days of “When is this going to look like something?” are the before and after looks that other women share online. It allows me to see the growth and progression in others and shows me that I will eventually get there. I created a photo album for myself and go through this, then I decided to start video journaling on youtube. In my first video below, I share why I initially installed sisterlocks, what I’ve experienced and what I’m looking forward to.
