MY HAIR CHANGED AFTER CHILDBIRTH | BASIC HAIR 90 DAY HAIR GROWTH CHALLENGE
My hair has changed. Not for the better, I hate to admit. It is now thinner and lifeless (to me). What happened? I had a baby and was disillusioned. What do I mean?
I did a big chop June 2012 because my hair was thin and didn’t appear healthy anymore. Well, 2 weeks later, I found out I was pregnant. As my hair started to grow back, it was thick, full and just well GORGEOUS! I was doing my protective styles, keeping my hands out of my hair and just treating it good. It grew past my shoulders and it was simply beautiful.
Well, it has changed. It’s now August 2014 and I noticed about 6 months ago my hair was different. It has less luster, felt lifeless and even looked thinner. I thought, “Am I doing anything different?” The only thing I could think of was that I was blow drying it more to do Bantu knots. That was only once a week so that couldn’t have had a major effect. Then it hit me. The hormones that makes a woman hair so gorgeous have now left my body and MY REAL HAIR HAS FINALLY SHOWED UP!
Instead of taking care of my hair, I have been doing (my version) protective styles for the last few months. I have been going back and forth between quick weaves and crochets. I would leave them in for 3 to 4 weeks before I would remove them to wash/condition and start the process over again. I was never giving any REAL attention to my hair. I wanted to do a big chop again.
ENTER BASIC
The angels shined a light on me, because I was selected to participate in the BASIC HAIR 90 DAY GROWTH CHALLENGE. For 90 days, a stylist will take care of my hair. Yesssss! She will wash, style, baby, pamper, love on my hair for 90 days to grow it and get it back RIGHT! In between my visits, I have been given BASIC products to apply myself.
I am extremely excited and so is my husband because he has recently been repeating the phrase around the house, “When are we going to see your real hair?” So the day I came home from my first BASIC appointment, he was all smiles. He even said, “You look younger, like we did when we first met.” I am still trying to see if that was a compliment.
