A Day with Dad at Disney’s Toy Story Land
My family was invited out to experience Toy Story Land as part of their Media Day, but my thoughts are 100% my own.
Last week my husband held it down for me. We were invited to Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios but I couldn’t go. I started a new job and was still in training. However, I didn’t want my children to miss all of the fun, so my husband took them without me (while on crutches).
Throughout the day, he was texting me pictures of their adventures. I posted on Facebook how happy and sad I was. I was happy he was able to take our children to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and experience something new, but sad that I couldn’t join them.
When my children came home, I was all ears about what happened, what they loved, and just their experience as a whole. Children will definitely tell you the truth and not sugar coat it. My 5 & 10-year-old had a blast, my 13-year-old, not so much. I explained that Toy Story Land was created with younger children in mind or adults who want to let their inner child out.
Fun Facts about Disney’s Toy Story Land
When you enter Toy Story Land, you shrink. You become the size of a Toy! If you use your imagination, everything small is now huge. You’re now surrounded by tinker toys, building blocks, game board pieces and more. Remember Andy from the movie, well it’s his backyard.
Toy Story Land History
Toy Story Land opened in Hollywood Studios on June 30, 2018, and based on Disney’s Pixar film, Toy Story. To my surprise, I learned that this isn’t the first Toy Story Land. It’s actually a themed land at Walt Disney Studios Park, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, and now Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios has 3 rides:
- Slinky Dog Dash – a family-themed roller coaster
- Alien Swirling Saucers – a cute spinning ride through space
- Toy Story Mania – a fun game that lets you shoot at moving targets
Bailee’s experience: I think the best part about Toy Story Land is the rides. I enjoyed the slinky dog best. I’ve never ridden a ride that takes you back like it’s over and surprise, your off to ride more of the roller coaster. The decorations are so realistic and make you feel tiny. I would definitely go back if only to ride the Slinky dog!
What about Food?
My family spent the entire morning in Toy Story Land and when lunchtime rolled around, they ate at Woody’s Lunch Box. The restaurant is actually Andy’s lunch box (from the movie) turned on its side. How creative!
Woody’s Lunch Box serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all for under $15. They sent me pictures of their food, but I honestly can’t share those here! I need to teach my husband how to take food pics! 🙂

My husband’s best advice is to get their early to beat the crowds. Disney is known for crowds, which translate into long lines. A FastPass can be your best friend. I need to remember that because I plan on being the first in line for the slinky dog!
