2 SIMPLE REASONS I’M ATTENDING THE TASTE OF BRANDON

Who likes to eat new things? I will raise my hand very high!

This weekend, I was invited to attend the “Taste of Brandon™” in Brandon, Fl. Brandon is my neighboring city and this will be my first time experiencing this event. I still consider myself “new to the area”. It will be 2 years in August that I’ve been an official Florida resident, so many things are still very new to me around these parts.

Attending this event combines two things I love to do:

  1. Eat!
  2. Try new things!

I’m attending the “Taste of Brandon™” because the purpose is to provide the Greater Brandon area with a signature event that brings families together and fosters a sense of community.

The “Taste of Brandon™” will feature many of Brandon’s most popular restaurants serving 2 – 3oz. samples of signature menu items. Guests will have the opportunity to try these samples and then vote for the restaurants in a “best of” competition with the best tastings, spirits, and desserts.

Awards will be provided, and bragging rights are priceless.

The “Taste of Brandon™” is Saturday, April 21 st from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. They are expecting at least 5,000 people and will be at the center of the Greater Brandon area, the Westfield Brandon shopping mall.

The “Taste of Brandon™” will benefit the participating restaurants by providing them an opportunity to gain exposure, build their business and be recognized for excellence. Allowing people to sample their food gives them the best shot at making a new customer out of you.

Here are a few of the restaurants included this weekend:

Romano’s Macaroni Grill Jeremiah’s Italian Ice MISSION BBQ Papa John’s Pizza Tasty Venues Cafe & Gift Shop YoYo Juice, Inc. Bahama Breeze Island Grille Boots n’ Badges The Brass Tap – National Harbor Bulk Nation USA Eddie Bull’s Cookie Dough Fred’s Market Restaurant Genghis Grill Brandon Glory Days Grill Florida Kona Ice of Brandon Jimmy John’s

Additional wristbands can be purchased for $20 (adults, age 9+); kids $5 (ages 3 – 8) and toddlers are free (age 2 and under).

However, I’m giving away a few free tickets on my FB page. Enter here.

How will the event support our community?

The chamber has hosted the “Taste of Brandon™” since 1994. This year’s format is very different in that this event no longer serves the chamber but is now hosted for the community.

The “Taste of Brandon™” will benefit thousands of people by:

  1. The “Taste of Brandon™” will benefit our families by offering a fun-filled, low-cost family atmosphere with music and activities for all. The local non-profits chamber members will offer many of the activities.
  2. The “Taste of Brandon™” will benefit our community by being held at the Westfield Brandon, which is a geographic and social center for our community.
  3. The “Taste of Brandon™” is an annual event that brings people together, and fosters a sense of community.

The event wristbands are currently being sold by the Brandon area non-profits who keep nearly all of the net proceeds. There will be a vendor area that will include exhibitors from area non-profit and for-profit businesses. Participation in the“Taste of Brandon™” is free for chamber non-profits and restaurants.

I love that non-profits benefit from this event. I believe next year, The Knighten Project will definitely be apart of this in some shape or form.

Have you ever been to this event? Does your city have something similar?
