Have you ever participated in Lent? I haven’t. I learned about the tradition a little over 10 years ago. I started hearing my design school classmates talk about what they are going to give up for Lent (40 days). It went in one ear and out the other, because I know at the beginning of the year we fast 21 days.
It’s my birthday! It’s my NEW YEAR! I am happy and grateful I made it to 29 + 8, healthy kids, great husband and all the gifts, talents and opportunities God has given me!! So grateful, but sometimes I still get the birthday blues every birthday. I always use my birthday as a way to reflect back on my life, decisions, choices, and plans. All year I am moving and shaking and on my birthday I am thinking, “I haven’t done enough!” “I am not far enough in this road called life!” “I should be farther along!” “When is this going to happen?”

What a difference a year makes! This time last year I was 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child. One year later we feel our family is complete and decided to revisit the same place we took our pictures at last year with our newest edition.
Our pictures for both sessions (this year & last year) were taken by Shannon Rivers, of Shannon Rivers Photography. The image by the tree was taken by Ms. Kita. She is the owner of KoKoa Magazine and shot pictures of my children for her Holiday shoot as well. Please continue reading to see other photos from this years photo shoot. Continue Reading
I love Beyoncé! I think she is a FAB singer, dancer & performer! So this is not a post to BASH HER!! So please don’t think that. This is a fun post about this Orange dress that she wore shortly after giving birth to Blue Ivy! When this image first surfaced, I fell in love with this dress! It is ME! The fit, the color, the shape, the length! I just love it. I never found out where she got it (and who knows how much it cost!). I have always been on the lookout for something similar!
Welcome to my Wordy Wellness Wednesday!! Today I am re-launching Soft Butter – Bernetta Style. I make an all natural handmade total body moisturizer for your hair, face, body & feet! I love this product because people use it for all different reasons and it works.
If you remember my Green Tea post a few weeks back, you know I like to drink Tea!! Well, I was on Instagram again and saw the coolest/weirdest looking thing. A man hanging out of a cup! I stopped and brought the phone closer to my face thinking, “What is this?” After doing a little more research, I found out it was a Tea Bag Holder! SOOO TOTALLY COOL TO ME!!
This was is actually called Mr. Tea Infuser. You put the tea bag OR loose tea leaves in his pants (silicone) and prop him up on your cup. He does all the work!!
I actually hate dealing with my tea bags but this way, they don’t get in my way when I am drinking!! I haven’t bought one yet, but it’s definitely on my list! Unless, someone wants to “Gift” me one!! Hint Hint!!
Mr. Tea is made of pure, food grade, flexible silicon rubber that can withstand temperatures from -22 degrees F to 450 degrees F. Mister Tea is versatile, durable and a great all-around performer! Measures 3.25 inches tall x 2.5 inches wide x 1 inch thick. Source
You can get these on Amazon or Ebay with a range from $9.99 to $19.99. It just depends who you want to buy from!! Tell me if you get one. I really do want one!
I can’t believe I am writing about this, but I am. Have you ever heard of a Yoni Egg? Well I hadn’t until I was scrolling through my Instagram feed last week and a picture caught my attention. It was a beautiful egg-shaped stone. The caption read, The Yoni Egg. I read a few of the comments and what stuck out for me was, “Can you use it during sex?” WHAT? Can you use WHAT during sex? This egg-shaped stoned? The response was, “Yes, your partner will enjoy it as well as you can reach a wonderful orgasms!” Ummm ok, I went into research mode – What is a Yoni Egg?
Yoni is a Sanskrit word for Vagina. It is a semi precious stone that is inserted into the womb space for reasons of enhancing energy, creation, and womb wellness. Source
Benefits of the Jade Yoni Egg:

Here a short (2:51) video of a doctor explaining what the Yoni Egg is and how it works. I was so surprised to see so many videos of videos about The Power of Yoni!

How to Shop Your Closet
If you haven’t worn it in a year, then chances are you’re not going to, and for good reason: it might be too tight, too big, too unflattering, or just not your style. Only keep clothes that you love and that make you feel beautiful. Let someone else love the things that are just taking up space. Bring the best of the best to the swap — the things you know someone else might get excited about — and send the rest straight to a Charity.
I am one of the people who actually like working out. I want a better body and I don’t mind putting in the work to get the results. Over the last few years, I have tried P90x, Insanity, Zumba, Billy Blanks, Jillian Micheal and recently Shawn T’s Hip Hop Abs & Focus T25. They were all good and had their strong points, but what I have come to love over the last month is Fitness Blender.
I know this is Wordless Wednesday, but I always have something to say! So for me it’s Wellness Wednesday. I came across this couples video series Fitness Blender on Youtube while I was searching for Jillian Michael’s (who has great videos too!). I started looking through their FREE catalog of professionally made videos and fell in L.O.V.E
They have videos for every area of your body. They also range in time. You can do a 5 minutes stretch video, or go all the way up to a 88 minute video. There is a calorie counter along side of the video with a possible range of what you should be burning. It is one person in the video with one person talking you through the exercises. They make sure to explain how to do each exercise correctly and what it does for you. They have taught me exercises that I have never seen or experienced before. And with all the variety, I can not get bored. I think that is why my excitement went down with Zumba – same video over and over again!
When I am finished doing these videos, I am sweating!! Which I love by the way. It makes me feel like I am doing something. I am seeing a change in my body and endurance.
Fitness Blender’s Youtube channel has over 400 videos with over 524,000 subscribers!! The are doing something right! If you like to workout or want to try something new but effective click on a video!!
Disclaimer: This is NOT a sponsored post. I just really love exercising and came across something I enjoy and wanted to share.
I had never heard of the egg white facial until I saw my friends picture/post on FB.
FB is the news isn’t it! LOL! I have found about so many things (good & bad) on social media first. Ok, that’s another post. My friend Yolanda, who is the creator of Seeing it Their Way posted this video one day and of course, I had to try it. She also has some great hair tutorials too! I have Hair Envy when it comes to her!! Love her BIG HAIR!
Benefits of an Egg White Mask:
1. It helps to tighten your pores (Wrinkle Prevention) – Soon after you apply this mask, your skin will start to feel tight as it dries. Some people believe its effects are similar to a short-term facelift. At the bare minimum, the egg whites tighten pores and remove dead skin cells.
2. It removes black heads – It was amazing to see my black & white heads on that mask once I pulled it off. It was like the eggs went deep into my pores and grabbed them out! If you do it right, meaning no talking after you apply it and let it dry all the way – you should be able to see the blackheads come out. It’s better than squeezing your nose, which I am guilty off.
3. Skin is less oily – Egg whites draw oil from the pores while tightening the skin. I don’t have oily skin so I really never noticed this benefit.
I also found out you can add a few strawberries too (mashed up of course). The strawberries act as an astringent and are great for oily skin. They are loaded with Salicylic Acid which is a great treatment for acne too. You can also had honey for a skin moisturizer.
Conclusion: I do this mainly on date/special event nights, because for me it’s serves as a mini natural face lift.
Welcome to Wellness Wordy Wednesday! Today’s tip is Pineapple Juice and it’s stomach flattening benefits! You heard me correctly. While watching Dr. Oz one day, he did a 35 year old Survival Kit and I was all eyes and ears. If there is anything I can do naturally that will give me the best quality of life “health wise” I will surely pay attention.
Relieve Bloating: Pineapple Juice
Of course, avoiding salty and fatty foods is important, but as we age, hormonal changes make a flat belly harder and harder to achieve even if you watch what you eat. After 35, your sex hormones fluctuate, making your body retain more water and your GI tract not as efficient, resulting in bloating.
Keep your belly in check with pineapple juice, an all-natural belly flattener! Just one small can a day contains digestive enzymes (known as bromelain) that help break down the food in your gut that could otherwise cause bloating and gas.
Want an even easier way to drink it? Make pineapple juice ice cubes; six cubes a day in your water will help boost your metabolism thanks to the cold, and they’ll digest slowly for daylong digestive relief. Source
Ever since I heard this I have been buying Pineapple Juice. I don’t make the ice cubes because I actually like the taste alone. What I have been doing lately is replacing the orange juice I use for smoothies with Pineapple Juice. That way I get my 8oz a day. If I don’t make a smoothie, I will usually drink my 8oz with dinner.
Is it working? I hope so!! (Just being honest!) I work out and eat good so my stomach is coming down – remember I just had a baby! Like I said before, if it’s good for you – I will try to fit it in to my routine.
