#NetflixFamilies and Summertime go great togetther #ad

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Netflix.
I don’t know what it is, but my kids love my iPad & Netflix! I promise it’s not a day that goes by that my children don’t ask me “Mom, can we watch a movie on your Netflix?”
During the school year, my children don’t watch TV during the week. They have enough school work to keep them busy. But it’s summer time!! During the day, they go to camp but when they come home they try to plop in front of the TV. I let them watch one or two shows but if they can watch a movie, they rather! Sometimes on TV, it’s really nothing on! And with Netflix launching their new FAMILY PAGE , they can literally watch what they want when they want. With mommy’s approval of course!

The cool thing about Netflix is that it is available on so many different devices, if they don’t want to watch the same movie – they don’t have to. I also like that they have a Family section. So I don’t have to worry about them seeing certain movie titles that are not appropriate. There are never any commercials!! LOVE THAT! And we don’t have to leave the house to {whispers} rent a movie!

Many families in the U.S. already have three or more Netflix-ready devices in their household:

  • Laptops
  • Nintento Wii
  • Tablets
  • Smartphones
  • Smart TV’s
  • Microsoft Xbox
  • Sony PlayStation
I have to admit that I take my iPad everywhere and I sometimes watch Netflix at work. When there is downtime, I can catch up on Scandal. Are you a fan? People think Netflix is just movies. Wrong! They have shows too. Kid shows as well as adult programming. Great movies such as: The Lorax, Dumbo, Leap Frog, Power Rangers & more. Great shows such as: Scandal, Weeds, Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood & more. They even have movies that have never made it to a theatre. I have watched a few of those!
I have a new baby and I have honestly turned on Leapfrog and let him watch videos on ABC’s and 123’s! You have to start early!
  • features several new categories including Family Movie Night, Are We There Yet and TV for Curious Kids.
  • The new page is available for both members and non-members!
  • Families with Netflix can enjoy their favorites – always without commercials – anytime, anywhere.
  • Parents spend nearly double on summer entertainment than they do during the holidays. A one-year Netflix subscription costs less than taking a family of five on two trips to the movie theater – and that’s without popcorn. Netflix delivers big entertainment without breaking the bank ($7.99/month).
  • Don’t forget, you can try Netflix for 30 days free. You can’t beat a plethora of movies & shows for only $7.99 a month. So give it a try, I am sue you kids will thank you. Visit to sign up and enjoy! is a new destination designed to meet your family’s summertime entertainment needs. On, parents can find lists of movies and TV shows for all kinds of special summer moments.
Visit for more information on the best ways to stream as well as videos from families using Netflix.

Who Won $10,000 at Macy’s Sizzle Showdown? #AmericanIcons

It’s one thing to think you are a grill master, but another to compete for $10,000 in front of hundreds while doing it. That is exactly what six finalist did this past Saturday at Macy’s Culinary Council “Sizzle Showdown” at Lenox Mall . The event was hosted by Tracye Hutchins, co-anchor of CBS’s Better Mornings Atlanta and judged by 3 top chefs, Marc Forgione, Stephanie Izard and Cat Cora.

Macy’s made a portion of their parking lot ‘grilling central’. They set up a big tent and we were able to sit and watch while the Grill Masters went to work. It was very nice. Everyone was cheering the cooks on as well as tasting food while the cooks were …. well cooking! We had drinks, sweet treats and even plated samples of some of the dishes the Chefs were preparing. I left full. The event started out with 6 grill masters and then went down to 3.

Leah Lyon was crowned the Great American Grilling Guru and won $10,000 with her Sizzled Stars and Striped Surf-in-Turf Grill! Leah also wins a trip to Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in New York City. Lucky her! I will be celebrating my son’s birthday on the 4th of July. He always thinks the fireworks are just for him!

Living Simple :: How I Made Homemade Tortillas Chips

Last night I made homemade tortilla chips for the first time. They were very good! My daughter wanted to help so we started the process. I went to a Mocha Moms event a few weeks back and the theme was Mexican. One of the lovely ladies made these and everyone was talking about them. She told me how and I decided to try, so here are the steps.
Step 1: Get a bag of flour tortillas (the ones that you use for soft tacos).
Cut them into pieces with a pizza cutter.
Step 2: Dip them in grease (I used Canola oil) for about 10 seconds. They brown quickly.
You can flip them if you want. Just be quick about it.
Step 3: Once they are all out of the grease, pour a little (to taste) Sea Salt on them.
I didn’t have straight sea salt, but Garlic Sea Salt so it added an extra UMPH
                  to the taste.
Step 4: Eat up! They just melted in my mouth. I added some ground turkey, cheese, lettuce
and tomatoes. I made a nacho salad. It was delish!

Future idea: Instead of pouring Sea Salt on the chips – dip them in a mixture of Cinnamon & Sugar for a sweet homemade treat. I will be trying that next.

Netflix is made for kids too! #NetflixKids

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of NETFLIX.
I became a Netflix customer right before my newborn arrived. I knew I would be in the hospital for at least 4 days and didn’t know if I would like Hospital TV.  Well my (older) children found my Netflix app on my iPad and that was all she wrote. It made me happy because NetflixKids really has alot of shows they already watch and enjoy. They recently added Disney Jr., PBS, Hasbro and Cartoon Network which is great because we are considering cutting cable. And when/if we do, my kids won’t skip a beat when it comes to their shows.

In the picture above, my children are picking out a movie on my iPad because my husband was watching something else on TV. That brings me to the versatility of Netflix. You are able to watch Netflix on your TV, tablet and smartphone. With Summer around the corner, family vacations will be a little bit easier if they are happy in the back seat with a movie or two. Recently my children don’t ask me can they play with my iPad anymore, they ask “Can I watch your Netflix?”
I have a 7 & 5 year old and although they’re close in age, they don’t always want (or need) to watch the same thing. I love that Netflix has a variety for ages 2-12 so they can pick and choose. For some reason, my children love to watch things over and over again. For example, we actually took my kids to see Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax but everytime it comes up on Netflix – my daughter wants to watch it again!
My children ended up selecting ParaNorman. You can see in their faces, they are really into it. With all shows/movies they have available, I am getting closer and closer to cutting my cable. I have really no complaints with the access of Netflix Kids; no commericals, huge selections, and happy kids!

What are you watching on TV with your family? Netflix has family favorites from Disney, Disney Jr., Hasbro, Cartoon Network and Dreamworks that are available to stream anytime, anywhere.

And streaming is easier than you think! Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device, go to the website on your computer – and you’re in business. Check it out here!

    Living Simple Skin Care

Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream Review

A few weeks ago I was sent Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream to review. I actually use Aveeno products so I was honestly excited to get this in the mail. I currently use their Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer for day time use and recently purchased their daily skin scrub.

I have never tried their night cream but quickly added it to my regimen. The bottle is not that big, only 1.7oz, so don’t use alot at one time. I quickly noticed the sweet smell and how light it was. It went on my face very smooth and left my skin feeling moisturized. In the morning, my skin still felt soft.

I am a realist and didn’t expect miracles or to look 10 years younger but I will say my skin was still soft in the morning. I wanted to keep touching it. My skin didn’t look dry or tired either. I liked that. I don’t wear make-up often so good skin care is a must. I still have some left in the bottle and will continue to use it until the jar is empty. I like Aveeno because its a trusted brand and they use quality ingredients. I even trust their products on my baby. I have been using them for years and have not been disappointed.

You can read the reviews of others users at www. The bottle retails for around $16.99, but if you are like me – you will find a coupon!

Chobani 24 Yogurt Pack Giveaway :: Living Simple

I have always like yogurt. I liked the taste and the health benefits were just a plus. My favorite flavor is Lemon. A couple of years ago, I over heard a few friends speaking about Greek Yogurt and how they eat it. I kindly pushed my way in the conversation and started asking 100 questions. That was my first time hearing about Chobani.

I tried it and immediately became a fan. What’s funny is, I was late on the Chobani train. You know when I love (or like) something, I like to tell everyone to try it. In this case, my friends were like YOU ARE LATE!! Now, it is my Greek Yogurt of choice! Healthy and Delish!

At the time, Chobani had only a few flavors and Lemon wasn’t one of them. I quickly became a fan of Pomegranate. Fast forward a few years, Chobani not only has over 19 flavors, they now have blended flip flavors (added granola, nuts or honey) in addition to kid sizes and kid friendly packaging.

Chobani recently sent me and my family a few of the Champion flavors to try. My son quickly tasted them all. I believe the Very Berry and Orange Vanilla were his favorite.

Would you like to taste all four of these flavors? I knew you would!
Chobani will be mailing 2 lucky winners a case of yogurt!

    White Cloud Diaper Day Party

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of White Cloud Diapers. All opinions are my own.

Last week I was able to attend a White Cloud Day Party! When you are a new mom, diapers do get you excited. The great thing was that it was a beautiful spring day at the park. The children were able to play while the moms learned about White Cloud Diapers. I am sure moms have their favorite but having kids so long ago and now starting over, I was eager to learn what’s new out there in diaper land! And it is always great to meet new mommies.

I enjoyed the party because even though we learned about diapers, we also played games that brought back baby shower memories. We had to smell the dirty diaper and drink out of the bottle! I didn’t win either game but we had a lot a laughs trying to figure it out.

My son is currently between a size 1 and 2 in diapers. He is breastfed, eats often and uses the bathroom just as often. I like that the White Cloud Diapers have indicators that show when he needs to be changed. Those indicators are only for the smaller sizes. They are also super thin so you don’t get the bulky booty look! And even though they are thin, there was no leakage when my baby had to go. It is also hypoallergenic and fragrance free for sensitive skin.

Honestly, I had never heard of White Cloud Diapers when I had my first two children yeeaarrss ago! Now I am happy to know there is an affordable quality option right at my local Wal-Mart. And you know I am all about saving money! A jumbo package (size 2 has 96 diapers) is under $16 at Walmart! Just go compare prices for yourself and you will see.

Have you ever used White Cloud before?

Diapering can be one of the biggest expenses in a family’s weekly budget and a great performing diaper is a must-have for parents. In order to make this affordable, Wal-Mart has reintroduced their premium line of White Cloud diapers to address the needs of today’s busy parents.

White Cloud Diapers provide your baby the highest quality diaper with superior leakage protection, exceptional softness and great fit. White Cloud Diapers are available exclusively at Walmart, where you can find low prices everyday on all your family’s needs. Check them out today!
