Did I think my blog would still be around 10 years later? I really didn’t think about it. Anniversary
But here I am. Still here. Still sharing.
I started my first blog, in 2010. It was called WIFE, Why Isn’t Forever Easy. I had a YouTube show, T-shirts, and some in-person events. If I knew then what I know now…
I transitioned to BernettaStyle in 2012 which allowed me to talk about motherhood and other aspects of my life outside of just marriage. Who would’ve guessed the journey it would take me on.
When I started blogging in 2010, I was 33 with 2 children (ages 5 and 2), living in Atlanta. 10 years later I’m 43, with 3 children, (15, 12, and 7) and living in the sunshine state, Florida.
Over the last 10 years, my blog has taken me across the country speaking, allow me to work with Steve Harvey multiple times, cover events like Disney Dreamers, speak at Coca-Cola Pay it Forward Event, Commercials, White House Visit and more.
It’s also running this blog that has pushed me to do other things outside of the site:
- Life Coach certification
- My Dream Year Planner (on Amazon)
- eCommerce Business, Bailee’s Nail Box
- Body Butter (at one point it was in my local store)
- Podcast, Dream Girl, Dream!
- Non-profit, The Knighten Project
Also, over the 10 years, I’ve had some major life changes
- My dad passed away
- We moved to Florida
- I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
Blogging has added so much value to my life, not necessarily what you see on the site but what you don’t get to see. I’ve met some beautiful people and created some amazing friendships. My business acumen has expanded as well.Would I do it all over again?
Yes. However, I would do it a tad bit differently. Again, if I knew then what I know now.
Honestly, I’m trying to figure it out. I’m older, wiser, and have new interests. Because I love sharing things to make your life easier, I believe I will still do that. Just differently.
These days, I’m praying more. Being more intentional about my relationship with God. I’m meditating.
I’m trading. Yes, stocks! Well, options contracts, and I love it. My goal is to master this skill within the next 3-5 years. This is a whole blog post in itself. (Stay tuned). The goal is to be financially independent like my mentors.
I am enjoying making more memories with my children, especially since they are older and can actually remember and enjoy these times. I’m also intentional about the memories with my husband. We just celebrated 17 years of marriage and 20 years together this month (September & October).
I’m also intentional about doing what makes me happy, more. Taking better care of my skin, body, mind etc.
What can you expect?
Thank you so much to those who have read, shared, likes, commented on a post. I appreciate you all.
I will continue to share things that are important to me. Thank you for 10 great years! Here’s to however many more God has planned.
