Earlier this year we were presented with the opportunity for Bailee to collaborate with 25 other children who had businesses and write a book, The Science Behind it.
At first, I was nervous about participating, because I didn’t know how this would work. However, over the course of about 6 months, step by step the process was laid out for us. We started the journey which led to her first published book.
The book, The Science Behind It is actually the brainchild of Zandra, of Zandra Beauty. She started her natural beauty brand business at 9 years old and is now 18 running a million dollar business. She’s also in her 1st year of college. She wanted to create a book that included young entrepreneurs like herself to motivate and inspire young people to dream big.
Once Bailee accepted the offer to be in the book the rest is history. Bailee’s chapter is called Young and Motivated with Pretty Nails. Each child has their own chapter where they share their personal story, strategies, tips, books, challenges, future goals and lessons.
The best part of the book is that each child has a different business and no two stories are alike.
You and your child will definitely be motivated to action. September 1st was the official book launch in Ft. Lauderdale at the Westin Beach Resort. There were 11 families that attended out of the 26 kidprenuers. It was like a family reunion. It was the first time many of the authors met each other for the first time and they clicked instantly.
I honestly believe this is a day Bailee will never forget. At the launch, they were treated like royalty. They were able to sign books, read excerpts from the book and even sell their products. She was really a queen for the day.
Collaboration and Giveaway
During the launch, we collaborated with 50 States 50 Books, which is a community serviced based business run by two book-loving siblings under the age of 7. Their mission is to help close the early literacy gap by providing free diverse books to deserving or underprivileged children, schools or other organizations in need throughout the United States.
We donated Bailee’s new book, The Science Behind It All, with a giveaway on Instagram.
Their goal is to donate at least 50 new or gently used diverse books to 50 deserving or underprivileged kids, schools, libraries or organizations in each of the 50 US states by December 2020 (or sooner).
So far they’ve collected 254 children’s books (ranging from board books to picture books to middle grade and YA books) for five different states: Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Jersey. They are currently collecting 50 children’s books for our sixth state, Delaware.
Here’s how it works:
People interested in being considered for their donations can sign up via an online form. They review all of the applications received by the deadline and choose a deserving organization, school or individual to receive the 50 books for each state. The books are then shipped with the hopes of being shared with hundreds or thousands of kids over and over again.
They’ll continue that same process until they’ve served all 50 of the states in the U.S.
