Who loves listening to your favorite songs, books or just talking on the phone? However, who is also tired of having to stick small microphones in your ear to do it?
This past week my husband and I tried the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker, sold at Best Buy.
Honestly, it’s a wearable alternative to headphones.
How Do You Wear a Speaker?
The SoundWear™ Companion® is a wireless speaker that rests comfortably on your shoulders and moves with you as it delivers deep, clear sound through a combination of acoustic technologies and unique design.
Two 11-inch waveguides in the neckband push air to opposite ports for deep lows—while proprietary digital signal processing cancels out the bass for anyone nearby. And since it form-fits your shoulders in whatever position you leave it, you’ll hardly know you’re wearing it.
It easily connected to my Samsung’s Bluetooth and I was ready to experience the sound quality that Bose is especially known for.
I called my mom and mother-in-love using the speaker. They couldn’t tell that I wasn’t speaking into my phone at all. The design makes conversations over the phone feel as natural as they do in person. Plus, calls stay clear when it’s windy or noisy.
I turned to youtube to play a few songs just to see how the sound would invade my personal space. It was perfect. Of course, you can control how loud you want your songs or calls to play, but the removable four-way stretch cover also adds a layer of protection without affecting the sound.

Here are a few benefits of the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker:
- Ergonomic neckband is coated with soft-touch silicone, and so comfortable you can wear it all day long.
- Enjoy up to 12 hours of play time from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
- Answer calls, or access your phone’s Siri or your Google Assistant through the speaker with the press of a button.
- Personalized vibrations offer discreet notifications from calls.
- Includes a Black four-way stretch cover that adds a layer of protection without affecting the sound.
- Wireless Bluetooth pairing made easier with voice prompts.
For me, its perfect for listening to a book on audio while driving or relaxing by the pool. When you have earphones in, they usually cancel out any other sounds, which makes it difficult to hear when your children are calling you.
With these wearable speakers, you can enjoy your entertainment while also hearing what’s important to you, like doorbells or the kids screaming MOM!
It’s perfect for Florida summers because its sweat and weather resistant design keeps you worry-free if you’re caught in the rain.
You can get more information on the Bose SoundWear Companion at Best Buy. It currently retails for $299. Father’s Day gift anyone?
What would you use it to do?
