5 Big Things That Happen in Episode 1 Season 2 of POWER

I was literally hooked the from the first episode of Power last year. The storyline, actors and rawness captured my attention. Every week, I looked forward to seeing how Jamie or Ghost (whichever one floats your boat) would fall deeper into a relationship with the love of his life, Angela or make things work with his wife, Tasha.

Ghost’s character demands respect from the first scene on Season 1, so you know he’s immediately the lead. My eyes were glued. Period.

A few months ago, I put a picture of Omari on my vision board. I wanted to meet this man. I wanted to have a conversation with him and that happened last night.

Me and Omari

Omari Hardwick, the Atlanta native and star of the Starz breakout 2015 Summer hit, POWER, graced the red carpet last night for a screening of Season 2, Episode 1. I also met actors RonReco Lee (Survivors Remorse) and Brad Parker (below).

Me and more boys

Season 2 Episode 1 is a Jaw Dropper!

This first episode picks up right where the season finale left off. For 60 minutes of uninterrupted drama, love, sex, confusion, drugs, broken hearts, and broken promises, I held my breath.

Episode 1 doesn’t wait to give us the goods! Here are 5 big things that happen, that will make you look forward to the rest of the season, which by the way are 10 episodes this year.

  • Tasha confronts Ghost about Angela, the look on his face is priceless!
  • Holly didn’t die, yet! I think we all wished she did!
  • Cannon is going to try to bring down Ghost empire from within. He will try to use his son.
  • Ghost finds out Angela is a federal agent. Something shifts inside for him, and you see it in his eyes.
  • Tommy and his mom have a bad habit in common. You can see why he is messed up!

After the screening, there was a Q & A with Omari and he shared a few things about his background and what we can look forward to this season.

Is Ghost #TeamTasha or #TeamAngela?

His response was, “He (Ghost) understands that they are both individual people. When I originally read the script, my affinity was for her character the most. Everybody is attracted to the bad guy, but equally attracted to the ride or die chick. Tasha’s that chick! Women love in a way that men don’t. Men get stuck on stupid in a way women don’t. He loves her, but she loves that dark side. It’s limiting him.

Angela believes in his dream. Every man wants a woman who believes the real secret dream of where he wants to see his life. They are two very different women. He wishes he could smash them together but then there would be no show.”

All the ladies swooned and fellas gave their groan of agreement! Those last sentences made me want to go home and ask my husband does he think that I believe in the real secret of his dream?

What I learned tonight

I try to see the lesson in every experience because whether you believe it or not, there is one. I was standing right in front of Omari, trying to get my famous celeb selfie, and seriously considering not saying anything.

In that moment I told myself, “He’s on your vision board. You want more than a conversation-less selfie. You want him to know you, well at least meet you. You want more out of this moment. You have to speak up or the moment will be gone. He won’t reach out to you because there are too many people grabbing for his attention. Act now or lose out.”

That’s exactly what I did. I turned my behind around and simply said, “Hello! You’re on my vision board, so meeting you tonight is a dream come true. I love the show and I am a fan of your work.” His eyes got soft and said, “Really? That’s awesome! What’s your name beautiful?”

“Bernnettttaaa…..” I can’t remember if I tilted my head like a school girl or not.

So he shook my hand and we started to have a small conversation but someone said something and the moment was ended.

As he turned away, I thought to myself, “What if I didn’t ACT?” What if I let fear keep me stuck. I wouldn’t have had my moment in time with him. Now, I have a memory that I will never forget and a picture that captures the essence of my happiness.

Take my lesson learned and add it to your own life. ACT on what you really want. The best thing that could happen is what you really desire comes true! The worst that will happen is something won’t really manifest, but so what! If you don’t ACT, it surely won’t.
