Spring is here, but in Atlanta our Spring feels like Summer. With Summer comes protective styling for my hair. Since I cut my hair June 2012, it has grown back full, healthy & long. Lately, I have seen myself get relaxed and start doing the things I did before I cut it in 2012. So, I decided to keep my hands out of it for a while and do more protective styles for 3-4 weeks at a time. In March, I got a cute bob quick weave. In April, I let a stylist give me a twisted up do. And for May, I am trying Crochet Braids for the first time!
HALT!! I used to see Crochet Braids and think, “Why in the world would someone get those things?” I thought they looked CRAZY on everyone I saw, until my friend Yolanda came over my house looking FAB! My mouth dropped opened and all I could say was, “Girl, I am next!”
I purchased the Free Tress Braiding hair with the Deep Twist curl pattern. These were $5.99 a bag and I bought three bags. I braided my hair in 13 braids. I braided 4 across the front and 9 going backwards. So the hair could actually fall in my face and you wouldn’t be able to see the crochet braid.
Whalaaa! The finished look. I really like it. I have been looking for styles I want to wear to the Essence Festival in July and this is a MAJOR CONTENDER!! Although, I want to try the GoGo curl pattern next time.
I decided to cut the bangs because I could NOT see! Β When I went out, people kept asking me what is my hair? Is it a quick weave, is it a sew-in, is it a wig? No one expected me to say Crochet Braids. Everyone has the same response I did, “I want to try that!”
So what do you think? Have you ever had Crochet Braids before?
My friend Yolanda, (www.seeingittheirway.com) did my hair for me. Hers is fab, but she used a different curl pattern. I might try that the third time around! Please don’t laugh at my hat, we were at our Annual Mocha Mom High Hat & High Heels Tea. It’s my mom’s hat.
