{Movie Review} Rio 2 & Red Carpet

Monday evening my family and I were invited out to the Rio 2 Screening & Red Carpet at Atlantic Station. We didn’t actually walk the red carpet, but the celebrities did. What immediately caught our attention when we walked in the theatre were the music and dancers. The music was so loud that I thought I was at a party, and they had beautiful girls in Carnival outfits with beautiful rich colors.

Take a sneek peek at the trailer, the opening scene will have you dancing in your seat. Janelle Monae sings the opening song, What is Love.

We (meaning me, the husband & kids) really enjoyed the movie. The music along with the dancing were so captivating. I actually went to the restroom and missed a dance and my own husband said, “Babe! You just missed the party!” I felt liked I missed a big part of the movie. During the movie, I would look over at my children – they were laughing and really into the story. At one point my daughter whispered, “Mommy, that isn’t friendly!”. She was referring to one of the characters conspiring to do wrong.

After the movie I asked my children a few questions:

  • Did you like Rio 2? YEEESS!! (at the same time)
  • What did you like about the movie? I like that they came together as a family. I like that in the end, the blue and red birds worked together to get their home back. I like when the birds were playing soccer (you have to see the movie to know what I am talking about). I liked all the singing and dancing.
  • What was your favorite part? When the frog said, “Yeah baby!

Will you go see Rio 2?

The entire cast of the animated smash RIO returns in RIO 2, and they are joined by a new flock of top actors and musical talents. Rich with grandeur, character, color and music, RIO 2 finds Jewel (Anne Hathaway), Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and their three kids leaving their domesticated life in that magical city for a journey to the Amazon. They encounter a menagerie of characters who are born to be wild, voiced by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Oscar/Emmy/Tony-winner Rita Moreno, Grammy winner Bruno Mars, and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.
