I Have Found My Favorite Body Altering Workout Class at Youfit

Before joining Youfit Health Clubs, the only classes I’ve ever taken at a gym were Zumba. I’ve attended maybe 2 or 3 outside of my home. A few years ago, before my 3rd child – Zumba and I had a love affair.

I loved all things Zumba and it really made my body lean. I had even started doing research on how to become a Zumba instructor. Then I got pregnant.

After the baby, I did some Zumba but I also started to learn more about the importance of strength training. If I wanted to tone up, and look more shapely (Angela Bassett goals) I would need to start lifting weights more.

One of the benefits of the Youfit Lime membership, are the classes. In addition to the actual gym setting with state of the art weights and machines, they have 29 different workout classes!

29 different classes! Including 3 different types of Zumba.

LesMills BODYPUMP is now my thing!

BODYPUMP™ is for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit…fast.  Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 590 calories*. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music…helping you achieve much more than on your own! 

My first time taking this class, I wondered what have I got myself into. That is not a bad thing. It’s just that I thought I was in shape, but this class showed me that I have some additional work to do. That’s more motivation.

This is a picture of my instructor, Sandra. She teaches BODYPUMP and BODYCOMBAT! She’s a beast! I’ve taken two classes with her so far (4 in all), and I love how she explains the moves so you do them correctly. She checks on you while you are working and makes sure you aren’t overdoing it if you can’t handle it.

In this class, you work your entire body with weights. It’s a non-stop 60 minute workout that includes a warm up and cool down. You also work with your own level of weights so it’s no pressure to keep up with your neighbor or instructor.

I’ve taken this class 4 times now and today I took my husband! I explained to him that BODYPUMP is not a woman’s workout class, but just a workout class. He actually enjoyed it and said he would definitely do the class again. His exact words were, “It’s was cool, it’s a different type of workout with a lot of repetition. I like it.”

  • YouGX Body Sculpt

Here are a few I want to try: 

  • Body Combat
  • Insanity – I’ve did this at home many times (it’s insane!!)
  • Strong by Zumba

Countdown to Change Challenge Update:

My husband and I did our midchallenge check-in today. My goal is to gain 5 -7 lbs of muscle. We can both see a change in our body shape. We love it. Come back in another 4 weeks to see the before and after pictures.
