Saturday, May 10th I was a lucky girl. I was able to attend the Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, presented by Cirque du Soleil with my husband and OMG it was “simply great!”. I found myself repeating that phrase all the way to my car, ” It was GREAT!”
Cirque du Soleil is known for great shows. They often change-up their theme, routines and travel around the world. The one I saw last year left me gasping for air, but I had higher expectations for the Michael Jackson show. Who wouldn’t?
I know that Michael Jackson is a perfectionist and I believe that this show would have truly made him proud. For me this was the best concert, I could have attended without the actual star performing. See how excited I was just on the intermission (see below)
From the beginning of the show, they had the audience captivated. Cirque du Soleil did a great job story telling each one of his songs. Each song had a different look, different back drop, different performance and energy. It was more than just dancing to Michael’s songs, but a true performance.
There were times where Michael himself was included on the screen and it made you feel like you were really in concert. The performers, musicians, and special effects kept your attention. It was amazing to look around to a full stadium of people all standing and rocking with each other.
I am a Michael Jackson true fan, but there were a few songs that I had never heard of before. Have you seen my childhood was the opening act and made my eyes whelp. Although each scene was different, for me the recurring theme seems to be Love & Peace.
Some of the songs, were played with words on the screen and I thought to myself Michael Jackson really paid attention to what was going on in the world and not just in celebrity “la la land!”. He was really aware of the cruelties of this world.
In conclusion, would I suggest this show? Ab-so-freaking-lute-ly!! If & when it comes to your town or you happen to be in Las Vegas, get tickets. If you are a Michael Jackson fan, you will feel his spirit throughout the performance. If you are not a fan (kinda like my husband), then you will leave as one (kinda like my husband).
