Motherhood Monday

Homemade Pizza With 6 Year Olds : Motherhood Monday

My daughter had a birthday last week and didn’t get a party this year. Instead, I told her she could have a slumber party. Honestly, I should have just had a party! The girls had a good time and that’s all that matters, but me on the other hand …. it was all work! The party was Friday evening into Saturday mid-day. Boboli-homemade pizza-bernettastyle.com

Friday night, they worked on a huge coloring project. It was a cardboard house that was taller than the girls! They loved it. They also worked on it Saturday morning and still didn’t finish it.Color House-BernettaStyleSaturday afternoon we did a pizza making project. They all helped out and had a hand in creating their own lunch! Boboli-handmade-bernettastyle.comWe did two different pizzas. We did a basic Cheese & Pepperoni and then a version of our Supreme. This included Turkey Pepperoni, Mushroom, Onions and Extra Cheese. 20131207_114934Here are the before and after shots of our Homemade Cheese & Supreme Pizzas! I think they turned out pretty good!  Boboli_handmade pizza_BernettaStyle

20131207_121224All the girls LOVED the pizza except “The Birthday Girl!” Go figure! We all had 2 slices and I really think they are going to tell their moms to make these pizzas again at home! It only took less than 10 minutes to add the ingredients and about 8-12 minutes in the oven! And Whaalaaa, you have lunch!

If you visit the Boboli website, they have quite a few Kids Friendly Recipes as well that include

  • Apple Pie
  • Bacon & Eggs
  • S’mores Pizza
  • Ravioli Rush
  • Hot Pizza

I truly hope the girls had a great time at the sleep over and enjoyed a great handmade lunch!! They all had a part of creating it, which made it even more enjoyable for them when it was time to eat.

Do you make any handmade foods with your children? Please share!

That is a great idea and I love the idea of coloring that house. This is better than a “store bought” party. Special memories created right there.

Good for you on the slumber party. They’re definitely more work.
I let our son add ingredients while we are preparing food or grab safe utensils like a spoon to help out in the kitchen.

I think the girls will remember this party for a long time. You definitely probably had them asking their parents to make pizza. That house is awesome!! Where did you get it? I know my nieces and nephews would get a kick out of doing a project like this.
